My name is Nancy Shaw, I live in New Westminster, BC and I’m married to Hugo. At this point, the most important thing to realize is that we are boaters, something we have done all our lives but we definitely put throttle down and went to max obsession in the summer of 2014. That was the year our family cottage of 40+ years was sold to Sarah Richardson of HGTV fame. Yes, the 2015 show “Sarah’s Rental Cottage” was OUR island – an island we loved like no other. But this is a blog about the inevitable and the need to replace one passion with a another. So we bought ourselves a boat – a 29 foot Ranger Tug based in North Vancouver at Burrard Yacht Club. We spent eight summers (and winters) doing the seas of the Pacific Northwest. Couldn’t get enough of the mountains, inlets, islands, marine parks. And to feed the obsession beast, summer 2022 was a trip back to the waterways of Ontario. And those waterways got ahold of us again. We decided to delay the return back to the west coast and do a second summer in Ontario. This is all about the summer of 2023. This time our destination was Georgian Bay and the North Channel. It was three months of beautiful water, beautiful scenery and great people.
